For his 15th birthday, Jaden Smith, son of stars Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, has asked to be emancipated from his parents.
The 14-year-old star reportedly wants to be legally free and independent so he can buy a house where he can live alone.
Will Smith revealed his son’s wish in an interview with The Sun, saying, “He says, ‘Dad, I want to be emancipated.’ I know if we do this, he can be an emancipated minor, because he really wants to have his own place, like ‘Ooh.’”
At this time, it is unknown if Will and Jada Pinkett Smith will grant him emancipation.
Jaden and his dad can be seen on the big screen later this month in the action-adventure film, After Earth, which will be released May 31.
