First Man on The Moon, Neil Armstrong, Dead at 82

Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon, has passed away at a hospital in Columbus, Ohio at the age of 82.

On July 20, 1969, 500 million viewers watched as Apollo 11 commander Neil Armstrong stepped out on the lunar surface for the first time in human history. Once his foot touched the lunar soil he said the iconic phrase, “That’s one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind.”

The 82-year-old former astronaut had undergone heart-bypass surgery earlier this month to relieve blocked coronary arteries. There is no word whether recovery from the surgery had anything to do with his death.
