It has been 24 hours since the world found out about the passing of 27 year old singer Amy Winehouse.
As would be expected in such a high profile story, there is a TON of speculation as to the cause of death, etc.
Here is what we now know-
An autopsy has been ordered. It has not happened as of this writing. There were mixed reports saying that it may be delayed until Monday or Tuesday.
Janis Winehouse, Amy’s mother, has said that her daughter was not well when they met the day before Amy died.
Janis said “she seemed out of it. But her passing so suddenly still hasn’t hit me.”
Amy’s father, Mitch Winehouse, was in New York for a scheduled performance at the Blue. He canceled that show to return to London upon hearing the news that Amy had passed.
Scotland Yard released this statement: “At this early stage it is being treated as unexplained and there have been no arrests in connection with the incident.”
Social networking sites have been buzzing about the “27 Club”, noting the coincidence of the untimely deaths of other famous musicians at the age of 27.
Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Brian Jones (Rolling Stones), Jimi Hendrix and Kurt Cobain.
Sadly, we now add the name Amy Winehouse to that list.
