Facebook Announces Video Chat

SMILE! You are about to be on camera.

Facebook announced on Wednesday that it will be integrating a new feature together with Skype called, simply, video calling.

How does it work? Whenever you browse over to a friend’s profile, you’ll see a new button between the ‘Message’ and ‘Poke’ buttons that says ‘Call’.

If you click on that, the other user will see a popup asking if they want to accept a call, and you’ll be immediately connected.

There is a small plugin you will need to install the first time you use it.

Video calling will also be a part of Facebook chat that already exists.

Here’s the interesting part of this announcement- it comes a week after the launch of Google+ (Google Plus) which includes a feature called “Hangouts” that allows users to video chat in groups.

Have you tried it yet? Let us know!

We here at BackstageOL.com “LIKE” this new feature…get it?
