Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Breaks Sales Records

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, more easily remembered as MW3, has shattered the record for most units sold in the first 24 hours.  The game that had already been dubbed the “most pre-ordered game ever” has sold 9.3 million units on opening day, a 33% increase over Call of Duty Black Ops.  Activision claims over 1.3 million people waited in line for the midnight release while millions more flocked to over 10,000 gaming stores to purchase MW3 on Tuesday.

Of the 9.3 million copies sold, 5 million were sold for the Xbox 360 thus breaking another record for the most games ever sold for a single gaming platform in a day.  The Playstation 3 sold an estimated 4 million units and PC gamers bought around 370,000 copies of the game.

The big question is will Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 break the Call of Duty Black Ops 5 day sales record of $650 million?

I would say definitely.  At an average retail price of $59.99 per unit it seems that a little over 1.5 million more copies sold should do the trick.

We shall see!
