The slingshot goes away and the Angry Birds will have to step aside because there’s a new game in town. Rovio’s Bad Piggies! is based on the villainous green pigs that were featured in the original Angry Birds title. Now instead of shooting down the pigs with Angry Birds, we are saving them after they get stranded on a desert island.
In Bad Piggies players will construct various devices to get the “bouncy” and “jovial” pigs to the hard-to-reach eggs. “The swine are stranded on a desert island and have to build vehicles and contraptions to make their way to the delicious eggs that they can’t seem to get enough of,” Fast Company explained. Thankfully for the pigs, it seems there will not be any birds in sight.
Angry Birds soared to success when Finish computer game developer Rovio released the game in December 2009. Since then the game has been downloaded over 1 billion times and has over 200 million active users per month.
Bad Piggies will be released on September 27th for iOS, Andorid and Mac just in time for the app store (the new iPhone is to be released on the 21st). PC, XBOX and PS3 versions are being planned for a later date release this year if sales are successful.
