Carolina Liar RETURN!

I first heard the band Carolina Liar driving to LAX in a rental car several years ago. While listening to the radio on the way to the airport, a song came on called “Show Me What I’m Looking For”, trust me- you know the tune.

I pulled my phone out, called up the Shazam app (it’s the cool program that tells you what song you are listening to) and then immediately knew this song would be my favorite for a long time. It still is.

That song was off the band’s first album, “Coming To Terms.” Now with the new release two years in the making, Chad Wolf, Rickard Goransson, Johan Carlsson and Peter Carlsson are excited about the future of Carolina Liar.

Chad Wolf of Carolina Liar

I had a chance to speak with  Wolf, who is the band’s lead singer, about this new album and the upcoming tour.

BackstageOL: Congratulations on the new record. It’s been two years since we last heard new tunes from Carolina Liar. How is this record different?

Chad Wolf: This record is different because it’s the first one since leaving a major label. We are excited about the challenges that brings. We now have creative freedom to put out the music our fans have grown to like about us. That’s exciting. The theme on “Wild Blessed Freedom” is the story of us as a band.

BSOL: Is it more work releasing an album independently?

Wolf: Oh yeah. In fact, you don’t realize how much work a record company does on a project until you do it yourself. The really cool thing, though, is that because it is OUR project, we have more control. If there is something the band feels isn’t right about a song, we can change it immediately. There is no “committee” vote. Plus, we can release new stuff when we want. Let’s say we want to do a cool cover- we can put it out right away. (Chad does his famous laugh here).

BSOL: That is badass. Congrats again on that. So now that you have announced a tour, let’s talk about what the live show will be like.

Wolf: It’s going to be great. It’s a new production- a new sound. It’s also “funky”. I have a feeling it’ll get people out of their seats quicker. Basically, it’s going to be a total “rockfest”.

The tour kicks off October 10th in Columbus, Ohio. BackstageOL will be traveling EXCLUSIVELY with the band during the stops in Texas. We’ll have backstage footage and behind the scenes access.

As Wolf himself said, “..it’s going to be a total “rockfest”.

I can’t wait.
