Chris Hemsworth: People Mistake Me for Liam Hemsworth

BackstageOL’s Dave Morales recently caught up with The Avengers: Age of Ultron stars Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans, who portray Thor and Captain America respectively, and the two shared some hilarious tales of how fans often mistake them for other actors.

Evans remarked that many come up to him and say “I love Star Trek,” thinking he’s Chris Pine. “It’s like, ‘That’s not me,’” Evans said.

Hemsworth added that many people lately have been confusing him with his brother, Liam Hemsworth and joked what he often says them. “No, I’m not Liam Hemsworth. I wasn’t in The Hunger Games. Yes, Jennifer Lawrence…she’s awesome, but I didn’t do that film.”

Hemsworth told of a specific encounter he had with some younger fans. “A bunch of BMX bandits…like 10-year-olds rode past me and stop and go, ‘You look like Liam Hemsworth.’” Before Hemsworth could even respond, the kids already rode away.

Evans explained that people also mix him up with Chris Pratt, the star of Guardians of the Galaxy. “I never get Hemsworth, which is really upsetting,” he joked.

Additionally, the two discussed what it’s like studying for the role of a comic book superhero.

“Initially, when you first play the role, it’s a study session. You’re reading as much as you can to get a sense of the character, not necessarily the plot lines, but who the character is,” Evans explained. “Now it’s…plots as opposed to character and that’s a little bit harder to handle ‘cause there are so many different comics and so many different plots.”
