A very detailed controversial documentary about Princess Diana’s death will not be shown in the United States or in Britain.
The documentary is called “Unlawful Killing” which was shown at this years Cannes Film Festival.The film will not be shown in a theater near your or even in the UK. The film is concentrated on the Princess and her boyfriend Dodi Al Fayed who were murdered in a plot and not by accident. The Princess and Fayed were killed due to speeding in a Paris tunnel back on August 31, 1997. The film was financed by Dodi’s father Mohammed Al Fayed where he believes Diana and his sons death was suspicious and not an accident. Although it was claimed in 2008 to be the drunk driver Henri Paul who was behind the wheel while they were being pursued by paparazzi while Diana and Dodi are not wearing seat belts either.
According to the Sun in UK , the filmmakers could not secure insurance to cover liability if they were potentially to have lawsuits over the film. A lawyer discussed with the filmmakers that in order to have any chance to air this documentary in Britain that 87 cuts surrounding contentious allegations would have to be made.
The film has been sold all over the world, but “Unlawful Killing” would need a specific form of insurance by the U.S distributors to cover their U.K. and French offices. The plan was to release the film in the U.S in August just in time for the 15th anniversary of her death.
