Disney Adding ‘Frozen’ Attraction At Epcot

More Frozen is on its way, and this time it’s headed to Florida’s Walt Disney World.

Epcot’s Maelstrom ride, located at the Norway Pavilion, opened in 1988 and will end its run on October 5th of this year to make way for a ride based solely on Disney’s popular animated film.

Tom Staggs, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, said in an announcement Friday (September 12th) that the new attraction “will take our guests to Arendelle and immerse them in many of their favorite moments and music from the film.”

Furthermore on the Disney Parks Blog, Staggs explained, “The pavilion will also include a royal greeting location where Anna and Elsa can meet our guests. We think these ‘Frozen’ elements are great compliments to the Norway Pavilion, which showcases the country and region that inspired the film.”

Not only will there be a Frozen ride, but the popular characters will have a larger presence at Magic Kingdom this holiday season, as well.

“Queen Elsa will use her powers to transform Cinderella Castle into an ice palace every night starting in early November,” said Staggs. In addition, guests who attend Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party will be able to see some of the stars, such as Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and Olaf, in “Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade.”

Below is the artist concept for the nighttime show at the Magic Kingdom, provided by the Disney Parks Blog:
