First Look: Iñárritu Impresses With New Film “The Revenant”

Alejandro González Iñárritu shows no signs of slowing down. After his Academy Award win for Birdman: Or The unexpected Virtue of Ignorance, Iñárritu went back to work on his film The Revenant.

The Revenant is co-written and directed by the Academy Award Winner and is based on the Michael Punke novel of the same name. The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio in the leading role alongside Tom Hardy, Domhnall Gleeson (Ex-Machina), and Will Poulter (The Maze Runnner).

With films such as 21 Grams, Babel, and Birdman on Iñárritu’s impressive resume, he continues to add another notch to his belt with this promising film.

Here is the full synopsis:

“Inspired by true events, The Revenant captures one man’s epic adventure of survival and the extraordinary power of the human spirit. In an expedition of the uncharted American wilderness, legendary explorer Hugh Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio) is brutally attacked by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team. In a quest to survive, Glass endures unimaginable grief as well as the betrayal of his confidant John Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy). Guided by sheer will and the love of his family, Glass must navigate a vicious winter in a relentless pursuit to live and find redemption.”

The trailer is an intense ride from start to finish with DiCaprio fighting anyone who crosses his path, the same goes for giant grizzly bear who want to maul him.
