Watch A Sneak Peek at Lifetime’s ‘Saved By The Bell’ Movie

Lifetime has released a sneak peek of The Unauthorized Saved By the Bell Story, taking the audience behind-the-scenes at a tense photo shoot for the teen sitcom.

Behind closed doors of the popular NBC comedy, which ran from 1989-1993, the show was filled with nothing but drama, according to the footage. The clip depicts six young actors bickering at each other, as Lark Voorhies (Lisa Turtle) crushes on teenage heartthrob Mark-Paul Gosselaar (Zack Morris) who has his eyes set on another female cast member.

Voorhies becomes visibly upset when she sees him flirting with the Tiffani-Amber Thiessen (Kelly Kapowski). Elizabeth Berkley (Jessie Spano) tries and fails to keep the peace between them.

Mario Lopez (A.C. Slater) tries to impress his female co-stars by doing push-ups. When Dustin Diamond (Screech Powers) attempts to copy him but struggles to do more than one push-up, Gosselaar stops him from embarrassing himself.

The throw-back film stars Dylan Everett as Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Sam Kindseth as Dustin Diamond, Julian Works as Mario Lopez, Alyssa Lynch as Tiffani-Amber Thiessen, Tiera Skovbye as Elizabeth Berkley, and Taylor Russell McKenzie as Lark Voorhies.

In 2009, cast member Dustin Diamond released a tell-all called Behind the Bell, which claimed scandalous cast hookups and drug use. Buzzfeed reported that the upcoming movie is based on “hours of brand-new interviews conducted for this film.”

The Unauthorized Saved By the Bell Story will air on Lifetime at 9ET/8ct September 1st.
