WATCH: Michael Bay Goes Back to Action with ’13 Hours’

Michael Bay is going back to his 90’s action roots with 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi. The films is based on the novel 13 Hours: The Inside Account of What Really Happened In Benghazi by Mitchell Zuckoff.  The film is a noticeable retread from the Transformers franchise, with a focus on a group of soldiers who have to defend an American diplomatic compound in Benghazi, after Islamic militants kill fours Americans, including a US ambassador.

This is the second film Bay has made that is based on a true story, the first being Pain and Gain. The film, while it didnt do so well in the box office, showed an artistic side to his film making that fans arent used to seeing. 13 Hours looks like its showing more of that side by bringing the intensity to his actors, just like he did with Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in his previous film.

The film stars Pablo Schreiber (Orange is the New Black), John Krasinski (The Office), Toby Stephens (Black Sails), and Alexia Barlier as a small group of soldiers who have the odds stacked against them. With this cast of mostly TV actors its interesting to see how Michael Bay uses them in the film. The first time Bay used TV actors in his action films was back in 1995 with Bad Boys, starring up and comers Martin Lawrence and Will Smith. We will have to wait and see what the films does for the careers of these great actors.

13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi is in theathers January 15th, 2016!
