WATCH: ‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2’ Trailer Released

'My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2’ In The WorksIt may be almost fourteen years since My Big Fat Greek Wedding was released, but the hit comedy film is finally getting a sequel.

Universal Pictures debuted the trailer for My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 on Wednesday. Nia Vardalos, the film’s writer and star, is returning as Toula Portokalos, and John Corbett is reprising his role as her non-Greek husband Ian Miller.

The sequel introduces Toula and Ian’s teenage daughter, Paris (Elena Kampouris), who is applying for colleges that will distance her from her crazy Greek family.

For this film, the big Greek wedding that takes place is for Toula’s parents, who discover they were never legally married because the priest did not sign the marriage license.

The film, directed by Kirk Jones, will also star Michael Constantine, Lainie Kazan, Louis Mandylor, Andrea Martin, and Joey Fatone. In addition, Rita Wilson and John Stamos are set to appear.

“We gathered the entire family back,” Vardalos said on the Today show Wednesday morning. “Everyone in the first movie is back for the second movie. We filmed in the same locations. We have the same producers. We are still a small independent film now being released by the behemoth Universal Pictures. But you know, we are still the same family and we’re really close, and we had a great, great time.”

My Big Fat Greek Wedding grossed over $368 million worldwide back in 2002 and earned an Oscar nomination for original screenplay.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 is currently scheduled to hit theaters March 25, 2016.
