Birdman vs. Lil Wayne Feud: Legal Battle Pending

Rapper Lil Wayne released a new mixtape Tuesday titled Sorry 4 the Wait 2, and it appears to take aim at his former mentor Birdman and his label Cash Money Records.

The title of the mixtape serves as an apology for the long wait for Lil Wayne’s next album Tha Carter V. The rapper previously released another mixtape, Sorry 4 the Wait, back in 2011 to help tide fans over until the release of his new album.

Lyrics to many of the songs on Sorry 4 the Wait 2 seem to indicate his frustration with Birdman and Cash Money Records. In the song “Coco,” Lil Wayne raps the following line:

“I’m sorry for the wait…Tha Carter gon’ be late so I cooked up a tape. The garden’s full of snakes so I had to escape.”

In the song, he also takes credit for the record label’s success with the lines “Who kept this sh-t together? …me, that’s who…Cash Money is an army, I’m a one man army.”

“All I got is Young Money, no more Cash,” he continued. “The day you met me is when hell froze/ On the day I left is when it thawed out/ I’m still in the buildin’, I just have to knock a couple walls down.”

In late December, sources said Lil Wayne threatened to sue Birdman if Tha Carter V doesn’t get released while Birdman refuses to release him from his record contract. Lawyers for Lil Wayne and Birdman are reportedly in talks.

Lil Wayne also sent out the following tweets last month regarding the release of Tha Carter V:
