Maroon 5 scored their second No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 this week with V after selling 164,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The band’s second studio album It Won’t Be Soon Before Long topped the chart back in 2007 with 429,000 copies sold. Their previous album, Overexposed, sold more copies in its first week than V with 222,000 but entered the Billboard 200 chart at No. 2 back in 2012.
Coming in at No. 2 this week was rapper Jeezy with his new album Seen It All: The Autobiography with 121,000 copies sold.
The Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack landed at No. 3 this week with 53,000 copies sold, bringing its cumulative sales total to 426,000. Ariana Grande’s My Everything, which was the No. 1 album last week, was knocked down to No. 4 with 42,000.
Bob Marley’s greatest hits album Legend jumped from No. 100 to No. 5 this week due to Google Play discounting the album to 99 cents. The record, which was first released in 1984, now marks Marley’s highest charting album ever. To date, it has sold 11.6 million units in the U.S.
The Counting Crow’s newest album Somewhere Under Wonderland debuted at No. 6 with 32,000 copies sold, making it their sixth top 10 album of their career.
Rounding out the top 10 this week was the Frozen soundtrack, Sam Smith’s In the Lonely Hour, the Now 51 compilation, and Wiz Khalifa’s Blacc Hollywood.
