U2 Cancels ‘Tonight Show’ Residency After Bono Injures Arm

U2 lead singer Bono will be forced to undergo surgery after suffering a fall while riding his bike in New York’s Central Park.

Band members The Edge, Adam Clayon and Larry Mullen, Jr. made the announcement on the group’s website www.u2.com on Sunday:

It looks like we will have to do our Tonight Show residency another time – we’re one man down. Bono has injured his arm in a cycling spill in Central Park and requires some surgery to repair it. We’re sure he’ll make a full recovery soon, so we’ll be back! Much thanks to Jimmy Fallon and everyone at the show for their understanding.

It is unclear when the accident occurred, but NBC continued to promote the residency until late Sunday night.  The accident occurs only a few days after a private jet carrying Bono lost its rear hatch during flight while traveling from Dublin to Berlin.
