Hailing from Houston, TX, Day Sailor is a breath of fresh air in the Houston music scene. The band has, in a few short months together, created a special breed of indie rock that can be defined as both introspective and sweeping, dynamic moments of layered guitar to quiet piano reflections.
Space City Rock says of Day Sailor, “Singer Amanda Tankersley‘s voice reminds me at times of Imogen Heap (whom I love), swooping and diving impressively while managing to never take away from the songs. Musically, I keep thinking of a bluesier, less-precious Eisley, which is no mean feat right there…” and calls them “one of the most promising H-town bands I’ve heard lately.”
Since April of 2011, the band has played local venues such as Continental Club, Fitzgeralds, and Rudyards among others, opening for touring acts such as The Vespers, The Sour Notes, and Hymn for Her. As they near the end of their first year as a band, they are excited about where they’ve been and look forward to seeing what the future has in store.
