DoSomething.org has announced their nominees for Hollywood’s most charitable A-list celebrities for their 2012 Do Something Awards. The categories include everything from most charitable Athlete to Comedian, Movie Star and more!
“This is the show that recognizes famous people for what they do, not what they look like or how well they sing,” said DoSomething.com’s CEO, Nancy Lublin.
Celebrity couple Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez have been nominated for the positive contributions they have made to society. While Bieber donated $100,000 to a low-income school in Las Vegas, Gomez was busy at work as the ambassador of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). At 17, Gomez was been recognized as the youngest ambassador to UNICEF ever.
Other celebrity couples that have been nominated for the awards include Miley Cyrus and her fiancee Liam Hemsworth, Glee‘s Lea Michele and Cory Monteith, Spider-Man’s Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield, and even Katy Perry and her ex-husband Russell Brand.
The Do Something Awards will pick a winner on August 21 for their Grand Prize of $100,00 to a charitable celebrity under the age of 25 to contribute to his/her project. Each finalist in his/her respected category will receive a $10,000 grant for their specific cause.
“No matter who wins, we are really here in celebration of the amazing young people who have accomplished so much,” VH1 president Tom Calderone said.
The Do Something Awards will be hosted by the guys of FOX’s New Girl and air on VH1 on August 21 at 9/8c.
