‘Sharknado 2: The Second One’ Premieres On Syfy Tonight

Look, up in the sky. It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s… Sharknado!

The premiere for Syfy’s Sharknado 2: The Second One has arrived! The horror/sci-fi TV film is the sequel to 2013’s Sharkanado.

In the shark-filled sequel, a freak weather system turns its deadly fury on New York City, unleashing a “sharknado” on the city’s population and its most iconic sites.

The only ones who can save the distressed Big Apple are Fin (Ian Ziering) and April (Tara Reid), who were last seen fighting off sharks in the first film, which took place in Los Angeles. The film will reunite Sharknado writer Thunder Levin and director Anthony C. Ferrante.

Kelly Osbourne, Perez Hilton, Billy Ray Cyrus, Judd Hirsch, Andy Dick, Judah Friedlander, Matt Lauer, Al Roker, and many more are expected to make cameos in Sharknado 2: The Second One.

“Social media is almost the reason for the existence for a movie like this,” said Time magazine pop culture writer James Poniewozik. The first movie – intentionally done to be so bad, that it’s so good – generated 5,000 tweets per minute, a social media hit!

Hype for Sharknado 2 is already building, with Twitter users trending #Sharknado2TheSecondOne in excitement for tonight, and possibly in anticipation for Discovery Channel’s ever-so-popular Shark Week, which starts on August 10th, just a few days after the shark-tornado hits.

Sharknado 2: The Second One airs tonight on Syfy at 9ET/8c.

Be on the look out for Syfy’s upcoming Sharknado 3 next summer in 2015. Will you be catching Sharknado 2: The Second One tonight?
