Simon Cowell Rescues Passengers on Sinking Yacht

Before starting the second season of The X Factor, Simon Cowell has been busy relaxing on his private yacht with his ex-girlfriend Sinitta in St. Tropez until he received a May Day distress call over his radio.  That’s when the 52-year-old  X Factor music mogul sprung into action.  Cowell ordered the captain and crew of his private vessel to begin a rescue mission to save the lives of nine people stranded at sea yesterday.

”He only did what any good person would do,” a source told the UK’s Daily Star newspaper.  ”If his yacht was in trouble he would want someone to come to his rescue. It was just lucky they happened to be close by.”

Once the passengers of the sinking 35-foot vessel Slipstream were safely on Cowell’s yacht, he sent for a smaller boat to ferry the passengers safely to shore.  Cowell and his team then went to work to pump water out of the sinking vessel.

”Just had a mayday message, 35ft boat sinking. Simon has sent us to help and rescue 9 people on board!” Cowell’s ex-girlfriend Sinitta wrote on Twitter.   ”Everyone ok, no-one hurt. Captain won’t let boat sink, petrol in sea etc. No tide, so hole plugged!”

This is not the first time Simon Cowell has come to the rescue this year.  In February, Cowell gave a would-be stranded father the use of his private jet to witness the birth of his first child.

The X Factor premieres on September 12th on FOX.
