THE CROWN Season 2: Matt Smith & Vanessa Kirby

Does Queen Elizabeth II watch The Crown?

Matt Smith (“Prince Phillip”) and Vanessa Kirby (“Princess Margaret”) talk to BackstageOL’s Dave Morales about the upcoming release of The Crown‘s second season on Netflix.

Based on the award-winning play, “The Audience,” The Crown tells the story of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign, as the fragile social order established after World War II breaks apart. The popular series reunites creator-writer Peter Morgan, director Stephen Daldry, and producer Andy Harries.

In the interview, actors Smith and Kirby discuss where the show is actually filmed, whether or not the royal family has watched an episode, and the amount of pressure they feel for playing such iconic roles.

The Crown debuts December 8th. For more from Smith and Kirby, check out the full interview below!
