Aaron Sorkin, writer and director of Being The Ricardos, sat down for a backstage interview with Dave Morales to break down the behind-the-scenes of the biopic about I Love Lucy stars Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz.
The film is set at the height of the I Love Lucy stardom. Lucille (Nicole Kidman) and Desi (Javier Bardem) were Hollywood’s dearest couple but had a very problematic relationship behind the cameras, which takes center stage on Being The Ricardos.
Having the responsibility of telling a story about such a complicated, yet worldly-loved couple, Sorkin explained the amount of pressure he felt in creating the movie: “I was aware that I was writing and directing a film about iconic people, and people that the public has a very intense relationship with,” he said. “I kind of always feel the maximum amount of pressure. There isn’t really that much room to feel more pressure–because it’s Lucy and Desi.”
