Carrie Fisher & Debbie Reynolds Together In ‘Bright Lights’ Trailer

Programming note: In lieu of the recent passings of Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds, HBO has moved up air date of the documentary film Bright Lights: Starring Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds.

The year 2016 ended with a whimper when both Carrie Fisher and her mother, Debbie Reynolds, passed away a day a part from each other. Fisher, a best-selling author and actress, is most known for her playing the iconic heroine Princess Leia in the Star Wars films. Reynolds danced into our hearts with Fred Astaire in Singin’ in the Rain and as The Unsinkable Molly Brown.

Way before their passings, HBO Documentary Films’ Bright Lights: Starring Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds played at film festivals in Cannes and New York City to strong reviews. In the trailer, recently released by HBO, we see mother and daughter playfully chastising each other.

Filmmakers Alexis Bloom and Fisher Stevens give audiences a glimpse of the special bond the two had. The documentary also covers serious issues like Fisher’s concern for her mother’s declining health. Reynolds also shares her thoughts on her daughter’s bouts with manic depression.

And to show that Ms. Reynolds was still spry when it came to one-liners, she divulges this little gem.

“I share everything with my daughter – especially the check.”

Watch the trailer below, then tune in when Bright Lights premieres on HBO on January 7th.
