David Cassidy Ordered Back to Rehab For DUI

Former teen idol David Cassidy was ordered by a Los Angeles judge to enter a three month alcohol rehabilitation program after pleading no contest to a January drunk driving charge.  In addition, the 70s heartthrob must pay numerous fines, take part in a nine-month alcohol education program and serve five years of probation.

The sentencing all stems from a January arrest by the California Highway Patrol near Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).  After making an illegal turn at a red light, an officer pulled over the rented Chevrolet Impala Cassidy was driving, where he blew a .19, over twice the legal blood alcohol content.

The arrest was his second DUI offense in the past six months and third within three years.

Cassidy’s laywer, Steven Graff Levine, says the 63-year-old is committed to cleaning up his act and will reamin in rehab as long as necessary, even past the court ordered three months if needed.  At the time of the sentencing Cassidy had already been enrolled in an outpatient facility for 102 days.  The judge will give him credit for those days already served.
