Jay Z Faces Paternity Lawsuit

Music superstar Jay Z is facing a paternity lawsuit by an aspiring Philadelphia rapper who claims he is the Brooklyn native’s love child.

According to the National Enquirer, who first reported the story, 21-year-old Rymir Satterthwaite told a New Jersey court that his mom, Wanda, and Shawn Corey Carter had an affair back in the 90s – before he became world famous and before Beyonce came into the picture.

Satterthwaite’s legal guardian and paralegal, Lillie Coley, claims in the documents that Wanda attempted to take the rapper to family court back in 2010, but the case was dismissed after a judge ruled that they had no jurisdiction over Jay Z. The court papers indicated that a DNA test proved that a man, named Robert Graves, who was believed to be the boy’s dad since birth, was in fact not the biological father. Graves, nevertheless, paid child support for years.

The dismissal of the case led Coley to file the 2014 civil lawsuit this past December, in which she accuses the 45-year-old of submitting “fraudulent” and “false” information to the court in order to avoid taking a paternity test.

In one of Satterthwaite’s YouTube videos, he describes how he was born and raised in Philadelphia, and that he started rapping at the age 8 and writing lyrics at the age of 13.

“That’s when I really realized I really had a passion for rapping,” he said. “I’m coming out soon, and I would really love to have your support.”

This lawsuit will be the second case in which the rapper is accused of fathering a child outside of wedlock. Jay Z never fessed up to being the father of Trinidad model Shenelle Scott’s child. However, according to the Enquirer, the rapper paid her $1 million to keep his name off the birth certificate.
