Crunchyroll is Now on Nintendo Switch

Crunchyroll on Nintendo Switch

Anime fans and Nintendo Switch users can rejoice because the popular anime streaming service Crunchyroll is now available for download on the Switch eShop.

Fans of the service can download the app for free to watch hundreds of their favorite shows with ads. Crunchyroll Premium subscribers can watch shows ad-free and also watch download episodes offline.

The announcement came just days before the season finale for the wildly popular Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.

The Switch lets users watch the service in docked, tabletop, or handheld mode.  This puts Crunchyroll in an exclusive group of apps allowed on the Switch.

Net(flix) Who…?

Only Hulu, YouTube, Funimation, and Twitch have made their way to the portable console. With the most glaring absence from the list being Netflix.

There is still no word on if or when Netflix will ever be on the Nintendo Switch. This seems like a huge missed opportunity for Nintendo.

With 103 million Switch units sold globally, you would think that Nintendo would happily add the world’s most popular streaming service on their console.

However, its almost been 5 years since the Switch’s launch in March of 2017, and Netflix is missing from the eShop. For all of your gaming news be sure to follow BackstageOL on Twitter.
