Aaron Eckhart: ‘Bleed For This’ Is A Story About Dreams

The boxing biopic hits theaters this Friday.

Dave Morales sat down with Aaron Eckhart in this backstage interview to talk about the message behind Bleed For This, a film based on the inspirational story of World Champion Boxer Vinny Pazienza.

In the upcoming film, Eckhart plays Kevin Rooney – a former boxer and current boxing trainer. He explained to Morales that while this is a boxing movie, it is so much more than just that.

“It’s a story about dreams,” said Eckhart. “It’s about people telling you, you can’t do something, and you believing that you can. It’s a comeback story; it’s a family story.”

Below is the film’s synopsis:

Vinny “The Pazmanian Devil” Pazienza (Miles Teller), a local Providence boxer, shoots to stardom after winning two world title fights. After a near-fatal car accident leaves him with a broken neck, he is told he may never walk again. Against all odds and doctor’s orders, renowned trainer Kevin Rooney (Aaron Eckhart) agrees to help Vinny return to the ring just a year after the accident for what could be the last fight of his life. Based on a true story.

Alongside Eckhart, director Ben Younger’s Bleed For This stars Miles Teller, Katey Sagal, Ciarán Hinds and more. The film hits theaters nationwide on November 18th.
