Checking In With Electric Touch

One of the coolest things I’ve done recently is getting to know the band Electric Touch a lot better.

It’s a good thing because this is a band YOU need to know.

While the group has a huge following in their native Texas, this is a band that is about to EXPLODE on a worldwide level with the release of their new yet to be named album in 2012. An album that is complete and ready to be heard.

I had a chance to talk with the band about the latest with ET (that’s short code for Electric Touch- you need to know that as well). We spoke of the recent trip to CMJ in New York. I even asked why they have yet to name the new album.

BackstageOL: Guys, it is great to talk with you again. We had a blast with you all at ACL. Did everyone have a good Halloween? Did anyone dress up?

ET: We had a great Halloween..Isaac was a Tricerotops Dinosaur called D.A.D.D.- Dinosaurs against driving drunk (there is a group laugh here).

NOTE: The phone signal broke up, I’m sure there were other “dress-ups”, I just couldn’t hear it. I really wanted to know what candy they got, but I figured we should talk about the band.

BSOL: You just played some shows in New York at CMJ, is it safe to call that the South By Suthwest of the “north”?

ET: YES! But the cool thing about SXSW is that it is the ONLY thing going on in Austin at the time. It’s a little difficult to tell who is with CMJ because they always have “characters” walking around New York. They kind of blend in. Austin focuses in on the music.

I was excited to hear this and could tell the band was VERY loyal to their home state of Texas. That’s a great thing.

BSOL: You all have had quite a year playing at Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo and the recent Austin City Limits Festival. You’ve met a TON of new fans, how cool is that?

ET: It’s great! We love playing live. Give us a stage and we’ll play. Playing shows like those is like a dream come true for us.

I could really hear the excitement in Shane’s voice.

BSOL: You guys released a new EP “Don’t Stop” on October 18, is that a tease for the upcoming new album?

ET: YES! (more excitement here) We wanted to give our fans a lil’ taste of what we do!

BSOL: Speaking of the new album, when can we expect it?

ET: We are looking at a Spring release. We have been writing songs for this album for a long time and we are ready to let everyone hear it.

BSOL: So, it’s kind of like waiting for that new baby to arrive?

ET: (more laughter) Yes, but this baby has taken two years to get here.

BSOL: Is it a boy or girl?

ET: (even more laughter)

They didn’t give me an answer.

BSOL: Will we hear some of the new tunes at your show this Friday night in Houston?

ET: Oh yeah! LOTS of new tunes! Songs you’ve never heard. We are ready to bring it back to Houston.

BSOL: Awesome! Is there a name for the new album?

ET: (more laughs) You know? We haven’t even thought of that. I guess we should come up with something, right?

BSOL: (I laugh) Yup. You guys have been compared to Kings Of Leon. Is that a compliment?

ET: Oh yes! Those guys have put out some great music and we respect that. To us, that is a huge compliment. We have our own sound, but it’s still nice to be thought of that way. I’ll take that any day of the week.

BSOL: You just shot a video for the new single “Don’t Stop”, when can we see it?

ET: It’s done and it’s great. No, it’s FANTASTIC! You’ll like it.

BSOL: I’m sure I will. In fact, i can’t wait to show it during our Backstage segment on Fox 26. Cool?

ET: AWESOME!

Electric Touch plays the House of Blues in Houston on Friday November 4.

YOU need to be there.

MAYBE you can even help them name their new album.
