Miles Teller Spills His Intense Training Process For ‘Bleed For This’

Teller bulked up to portray world champion Vinny Paz.

In the boxing biopic Bleed For this, Miles Teller stars as Vinny Pazienza, later known as Vinny Paz and Pazmanian Devil. BackstageOL’s Dave Morales sat down with the star to talk about his intense training process and more.

Teller, who is a big boxing fan, explained how the training process is pretty rigorous. “I remember staring at pieces like jolly ranchers, and feeling like ‘No, even that wouldn’t be right for Vinny,’” he explained. “This guy built this incredible legacy, and you’re going to play that and imitate that. And that’s going to affect the rest of this man’s life – so you better be strict and dedicated.”

Below is the film’s synopsis:

Vinny “The Pazmanian Devil” Pazienza (Miles Teller), a local Providence boxer, shoots to stardom after winning two world title fights. After a near-fatal car accident leaves him with a broken neck, he is told he may never walk again. Against all odds and doctor’s orders, renowned trainer Kevin Rooney (Aaron Eckhart) agrees to help Vinny return to the ring just a year after the accident for what could be the last fight of his life. Based on a true story.

Alongside Teller, director Ben Younger’s Bleed For This stars Katey Sagal, Aaron Eckhart, Ciarán Hinds and more. The film hits theaters nationwide on Friday, November 18th.
