Renée Zellweger on Why Bridget Jones is So Relatable

Twelve years after the last film was released, the third installment in the Bridget Jones franchise hits theaters this weekend.

In Bridget Jones’s Baby, the title character finds herself pregnant but is unsure if the father is her old love Mark Darcy or the dashing Jack Qwant. Renée Zellweger and Colin Firth are reprising their roles of Bridget and Mark, respectively, and Patrick Dempsey joined the cast to portray Jack.

BackstageOL’s Dave Morales sat down with the three actors to discuss the film and to talk about why fans love Bridget Jones.

“[Because of] her humanity, her vulnerability,” Zellweger listed off. “She’s imperfect but she triumphs anyway. It inspires us. She makes it okay for the rest of us to be imperfect.”
