Spoiler: Character Death Slipped During Interview with ‘Us’ Actors

It’s a gruesome death.

Writer and director Jordan Peele’s family horror thriller Us hits theaters this week, and we have a little spoiler to share.

The film, about a vacationing family (The Wilsons) who find themselves stalked by their doppelgängers, stars Lupita Nyong’o (the overprotective mom, Adelaide), Black Panther co-star Winston Duke (the amiable father, Gabe), and Shahadi Wright Joseph and Evan Alex as their teen daughter and younger son, respectively.

In our backstage interview with the young stars, the duo were asked what scared them the most. Alex immediately answered, “Blood… I just can’t handle it.” He then continued to explain the graphic details of his fear – “When someone is stabbed in the neck, and they’re still crawling and walking” – when Joseph then jumped in and gave us a movie spoiler! “So, like Kitty Tyler?”… Ouch, poor Kitty.

Kitty (Elisabeth Moss) is wife to Josh Tyler (Tim Heidecker), the second family in the horror film. The pair are The Wilsons’ summertime acquaintances, who are also vacationing with their two teenage daughters, are victim to their own violent doppelgängers.

As for Joseph’s fear, “Rats. I hate rats… and I live in New York City!” The kids were both shocked to hear of Nyong’o’s fear (butterflies!).

Us hits theaters March 22, 2019. Check out the full interview below!
