THE LOST CITY OF Z: Sienna Miller Plays More Than Just ‘The Wife’

Miller pushed her director to make her not just ‘the wife.’

BackstageOL’s Dave Morales sat down with Sienna Miller in this backstage interview to talk about his role in the upcoming biographical adventure The Lost City of Z, directed by James Gray.

In the interview, Miller gave us some insight about why she wanted to work with Gray (Two Lovers) and what it was like to portray Nina Fawcett, wife of British explorer Percy Fawcett.

“James and I were really conscious of just her being ‘the wife’, and I certainly didn’t want to play that and he didn’t want a woman in this film that was just that,” she explained. “James really honored his commitment.”

Synopsis:

At the dawn of the 20th century, British explorer Percy Fawcett journeys into the Amazon, where he discovers evidence of a previously unknown, advanced civilization that may have once inhabited the region. Despite being ridiculed by the scientific establishment, which views indigenous populations as savages, the determined Fawcett, supported by his devoted wife, son, and aide-de-camp, returns to his beloved jungle in an attempt to prove his case.

The Lost City of Z hits theaters Friday, April 21st. Check out the full interview with Miller below:
