An Interview With STAIND

We got a chance to talk to frontman Aaron Lewis and guitarist Mike Mushok before their performance at Buzzfest in Houston, Texas.  Aaron and Mike opened up about the controversial “The Making of Staind Documentary” and what had happened in the making of the record. While filming the Staind documentary Aaron Lewis released the country album Town Line, that some critics saw as proof that the band was going to break up.  That was not the case.  Aaron told us why he decided to release the country album and how vital a role country music has played in his writing process.

Aaron has a soft spot as well.  He founded It Takes a Community Foundation to reopen his daughter’s school that had been shut down due to insufficient government funding.  The foundation’s goal is to work with local leaders and community organizations to raise funds and support to enrich the communities they live in, sustain diminishing public services and provide assistance to communities in crisis.  “I’m very lucky to do what I do,” says Lewis.   “What I do has made such a difference in my life  it seems only fitting to try to [donate my resources] as often as I can for other people.”

What’s next for Staind?

The band will be going on their first ever world tour.  It’s hard to believe that with over 15 million records sold and 16 years in the music business Staind has never traveled to South America, Asia, Australia or anywhere east of Berlin.

Watch the full interview and controversial documentary below.

Mike even has a little something to say about rival band Kings of Leon!
