Winston Duke’s Greatest Fear is A Life with No Impact

The star seeks to inspire in our backstage interview, explaining how acting has changed his life.

Black Panther’s Winston Duke will be starring alongside Lupita Nyong’o in Jordan Peele’s horror thriller Us. The film, due out this week, follows the success of Peele’s directorial debut Get Out.

In his latest work, the director incorporates a few of his childhood fears, which include open waters, cockroaches, and doppelgängers… or in this case, a family of scissor-wielding doppelgängers. Peele explained that after seeing an episode of the classic paranormal series, The Twilight Zone, he was haunted ever since.

As for Duke’s fears, the star, who plays Gabe (and doppelgänger Abraham) in the fright fest, replied, “What scares me is a life of no impact. Not being able to have a voice and speak and do the art that I’m so attached to. Those are my scissors.”

Us hits theaters March 22, 2019. Check out the full interview below!

Film synopsis:

Accompanied by her husband, son and daughter, Adelaide Wilson returns to the beachfront home where she grew up as a child. Haunted by a traumatic experience from the past, Adelaide grows increasingly concerned that something bad is going to happen to her family. Her worst fears soon become a reality when four masked strangers descend upon the house, forcing the Wilsons into a fight for survival. When the masks come off, each stranger takes the appearance of a different family member.
