U2 to Reissue ‘Achtung Baby’

With U2 wrapping up the last leg of their two year long 360 Tour, the controversial group announced that they will be re-releasing their seventh album Achtung Baby to celebrate it’s 20th anniversary. Released on November 19, 1991, Achtung Baby went on to sell over 18 million records worldwide, making it the most sold U2 album after Joshua Tree with 25 million sold.

Like Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby would end up becoming a pivotal moment in U2’s career due to their declining image in the late-1980s. Following the release of Achtung Baby, U2 went on the Zoo TV Tour to back the album’s singles “The Fly”, “Mysterious Ways”, “One”, “Even Better Than the Real Thing”, and “Who’s Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses”.  While on tour the band would go on to win a Grammy in 1993 for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with a Vocal and once again turn into the mega-band we see today.
