Beyonce Pens Powerful Letter About Police Shootings: ‘Stop Killing Us’

Beyonce shared on her social media an open letter illustrating her anguish towards the recent police-involved shootings that took the lives of Alton Sterling (37) and Philando Castile (32).

“We are sick and tired of the killings of young men and women in our communities,” begins the statement released Thursday on Beyonce’s website. “It is up to us to take a stand and demand that they ‘stop killing us.’”

The Lemonade singer continues her letter by urging citizens to contact their local politicians. “We all have the power to channel our anger and frustration into action,” she wrote. “We must use our voices to contact the politicians and legislators in our districts and demand social and judicial changes.”

During a moment of silence at her recent Glasgow concert, the singer projected on a large screen the names of countless victims – including Sterling and Castile, as well as others such as Freddie Gray, Tamir E. Rice and Eric Garner.
