Ben Affleck In Talks For ‘The Accountant’

Gone Girl’s Ben Affleck is in talks to star in Warner Bros.’ The Accountant, with eyes on Gavin O’Connor to possibly direct.

The action thriller has been floating around in development for many years, with Warner Bros. initially developing it as a directorial vehicle for Mel Gibson. Sony Pictures later picked up the project, with Will Smith on board to star as the lead character, but it was halted and put back into turnaround after the studio had trouble moving forward.

The Accountant, based on the 2011 Black List script by Bill Dubuque (The Judge), follows a placid accountant who moonlights as a lethal assassin.

Mark Williams and Lynette Howell are set to produce the film, and Drew Crevello and Jon Gonda will oversee the project for Warner Bros.

Affleck can be seen next in David Fincher’s film adaptation of Gone Girl, which hits theaters this Friday (October 3rd). Following promotional duties for the mystery thriller, he will head back to Detroit to continue filming for his role as Batman in Warner Bros.’ Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.

The superhero blockbuster is to be released March 25, 2016.
