‘Conjuring 2’ Gets A New Release Date

Warner Bros. and New Line’s The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist has been given a new release date.

Ditching its original pre-Halloween 2015 release, the horror film will now be striding into theaters on June 10, 2016. The sequel will be met with familiar faces, with The Conjuring‘s James Wan returning as director, and Chad and Carey Hayes returning as the film’s writers.

Wan previously worked on the spin-off Annabelle, which cost $6.5 million to produce and grossed over $240 million worldwide.

The Conjuring 2 will continue the original story, following paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, on their supernatural adventures.

The original Conjuring was released on July 19, 2013 and quickly went on to become the most profitable film of 2013. With a small budget at only $20 million, the film successfully grossed about $320 million worldwide.

The fright flick will be released in conjunction with Lionsgate’s Now You See Me 2 and Sony’s Uncharted. Filming for The Conjuring 2 will begin early summer 2015.
