Disney To Develop ‘Enchanted’ Sequel

Disney’s 2007 hit fairytale film, Enchanted, is getting a sequel to be titled Disenchanted.

J. David Stem and David N. Weiss are set to write the script, with director Anne Fletcher (The Proposal) on board to direct and Barry Josephson and Barry Sonnenfeld back again to produce.

Currently, there is little information in regards to the shoot date, release date or potential casts members. Actress Amy Adams reportedly “has been enthusiastic about reprising her lead role,” but no casting has been officially announced.

Adams starred as Giselle opposite Patrick Dempsey in the original live-action musical about a cartoon princess who crosses over into the real world of modern New York City. It included a cast of Tony winner Idina Menzel, James Marsden, Timothy Spall, Rachel Covey and Susan Sarandon with Julie Andrews as the narrator.

The 2007 film, directed by Kevin Lima from a script by Bill Kelly, grossed over $340 million worldwide and landed three Oscar nominations for Best Original Song from composer Alan Menken and lyricist Stephen Schwartz.
