Dwayne Johnson to Star in Disney’s ‘Jungle Cruise’ Movie

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is set to star in Disney’s upcoming film based on its Jungle Cruise theme park ride.

John Requa and Glenn Ficarra, who directed Crazy, Stupid, Love and the Will Smith thriller Focus, will pen the script. It is currently unknown if they will direct the film. John Davis and John Fox of Davis Entertainment will serve as producers.

Details about the storyline for Jungle Cruise have not yet been released. However, the film is expected to have a retro vibe similar to the Jungle Cruise ride, which first opened at Disneyland in 1955.

After the success of the Pirates of the Carribbean franchise, Disney has been busy trying to develop more films based off of its theme park attractions. A new Haunted Mansion film is also in the works, and Ryan Gosling is in talks to star.

Johnson has many projects coming up. He is currently filming the action comedy Central Intelligence. In 2016, he will be busy shooting Baywatch with Zac Efron. He’s also set to be in Rampage, an adaptation of the 1980s video game.
