Everything You Need to Know About ‘Indiana Jones 5’

Within the latest issue of Vanity Fair, it was announced that yet another Indiana Jones project was in the works!

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy (E.T. and Back to the Future) told the magazine, “In buying the company, Disney also got rights, for better or worse, to less-storied Lucasfilm properties, among them Willow and Radioland Murders.”

Kennedy continued, “A bigger prize is the Indiana Jones franchise. Kennedy confirmed rumors that another Indy movie ‘will one day be made inside this company. When it will happen, I’m not quite sure. We haven’t started working on a script yet, but we are talking about it.”

While they are “talking about it,” we shouldn’t expect a new Indiana Jones film to release anytime soon. Lucasfilm is likely focusing all of their energy on the new Star Wars installment, which is due out this December.

In regards to the question of who will be playing the role of Indy in the fifth film is still unknown. There have been previous reports that linked Bradley Cooper and Chris Pratt to take over the lead, which was famously led by Harrison Ford.

Ford, who has starred in four of the installments since 1981, last reprised his role as Dr. Jones in 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which made close to $800 million worldwide but had mixed reviews from both critics and moviegoers.

The 71-year-old actor, who can next be seen in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, told the Telegraph in 2013 that he could still handle the role despite his age.

“We’ve seen the character develop and grow over a period of time and it’s perfectly appropriate and OK for him to come back again with a great movie around him where he doesn’t necessarily have to kick as much ass,” said Ford.
