The newly Tom Hanks-led film Finch, released by Apple TV+, has set audience records for the streaming network since its release on November 5.

According to Apple, Finch premiered in over 100 countries, doubling its opening day audience as the weekend progressed. This led to the film having the largest opening weekend ever on AppleTV+ since its launch in 2019. The network has not yet provided specific numbers to support the claims.

The previous film to have the best opening weekend for AppleTV+ was another Tom Hanks project, the WWII thriller Greyhound. Hanks and Apple currently have another collaboration on the docket in the form of the limited series Masters of the Air. Another WWII set title which is executive produced by Hanks, Steven Spielberg and Gary Goetzman for Apple Studios.

Finch is another addition to AppleTV’s run of successful projects. The network is home to the popular Ted LassoThe Morning ShowFoundation and Invasion.

Finch is a post-apocalyptic sci-fi drama about a robot living on earth designed to protect his dying creator’s dog.
