First Look: Ryan Gosling And Harrison Ford In ‘Blade Runner 2049’

It must be Christmas because Warner Bros. is giving out presents in the form a teaser for Blade Runner 2049, a sequel to Ridley Scott’s 1982 sci-fi classic that starred Harrison Ford. Scott is executive producing the new film and Ford returns as Rick Deckard. Set 30 years after the original we hear Ford’s voice narrate the teaser as we follow a man (Ryan Gosling) as he enters what looks to be an uninhabited hotel. At the very end Ford emerges with a gun in hand as he comes face to face with the new blade runner.

Denis Villeneuve, who has been on fire of late with last year’s Sicario and this year’s Arrival, directs from a screenplay written by Hampton Fancher (who co-wrote the original) and Michael Green (upcoming Logan, Alien: Covenant). According to the synopsis, Gosling’s character is LAPD Officer K, who unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. His discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Ford), a former blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.

Joining Gosling and Ford are Robin Wright, Dave Bautista and Jared Leto.

Blade Runner 2049 arrives in theaters on October 6, 2017.
