‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’ Shoots its Way to Number 1

This weekend’s box office saw G.I. Joe: Retaliation lead the pack with total earnings of $51.7 million for opening weekend. Last week’s box office top earner, the prehistoric comedy adventure The Croods, took second place with $26.5 million over the weekend. The film’s total box office earnings are now at $88.6 million.

Tyler Perry’s Temptation opened with bad reviews and a total of $22.3 million, landing in third place. Olympus Has Fallen, now at $54.7 million in box office earnings is in fourth place – with Oz the Great and Powerful in fifth and still going strong. Oz has made $198 million in its first four weeks, but is still shy of the film’s $215 million budget.

The rest of the box office results are as follows: sixth place went to The Host that opened up to just $11 million, Halle Berry’s The Call took seventh with $4.8 million and total earnings of $39.5 million, at eighth place is Admission with $3.2 million earning $11.8 million in its first two weeks, ninth place went to Spring Breakers with $2.7 million and a $10.1 million total, and The Incredible Burt Wonderstone hanged onto last place with $1.3 million and earning $20.6 million in three weeks – getting near its break even point.
