George Jung Wrote A ‘Blow’ Sequel In Prison

TMZ reported that convicted drug dealer George Jung, who was the inspiration for the 1993 book and 2001 movie Blow, has written a sequel.

The 71-year-old, arrested in 1995 in Massachusetts, was due to be released later this November, however has been granted an earlier release. He was discharged from federal prison on June 2nd, and stated shortly after that he has more to share about his smuggling missions in the 80s.

Jung’s new book Heavy was co-written with T. Rafael Cimino, nephew of Deer Hunter director Michael Cimino, and will be released to the public next month. It is supposed to contain many of the same characters from the original, and will chronicle more of his drug-filled experiences.

Ted Demme’s Blow was the film edition of the 1993 book entitled How a Small Town Made $100 Million with the Medellin Cocaine Cartel and Lost It All by Bruce Porter. The film restates Jung’s role, portrayed by actor Johnny Depp, as the American link to the Colombian cocaine cartel in the 1970s and early 1980s.

In 2001, Blow made $52.9 million domestically and another $30.2 million internationally. It turned out to be one of the most talked about films of the year.
