Hugh Jackman Joins Live-Action ‘Peter Pan’ Film

Hugh Jackman has joined the cast for Warner Bros. upcoming live-action film Pan.  Jackman will be playing the role of the film’s villain, Blackbeard. Garrett Hedlund has been offered the role of Captain Hook, according to THR.

“There is a reason that Hugh is known and loved the world over,” Warner Bros. Pictures Worldwide Marketing and International Distribution president Sue Kroll said in a statement. “He is uncompromising in his dedication to every role, and we are all thrilled to be working with him again.”

Pan will be directed by Joe Wright and written by Jason Fuchs, along with producers Greg Berlanti and Paul Webster.  Fluchs’ script casts Peter Pan and Captain Hooks as allies on Blackbeard’s ship, at least a first.  No word yet on who will play Peter Pan.

Pan opens in theaters on July 17, 2015.
