Hugh Jackman Returns For ‘X-Men: Apocalypse,’ Ian McKellen Does Not

A Brooklyn custom leather goods company has revealed that actor Hugh Jackman will return to play Wolverine in X-Men: Apocalypse.

The company, named Kika NY, spoiled the news of Jackman’s appearance by posting on Instagram a sketch of the “special duffle backpack” they were making for the superhero. The post, which is now deleted, read: “We were just asked to make a special duffle backpack for Hugh Jackman who is filming the new X MEN movie in Montreal. We started sketching-The bag will be ready next week- we will keep you posted!”

Ian McKellen, on the other hand, will not be returning as Magneto in the upcoming X-Men film. “I haven’t heard [the rumors]. I don’t think I am, no, no, they are currently making the film and I’m not in it,” he told Digital Spy.

McKellen played the classic X-Men villain in the first three movies and reprised the role last year for X-Men: Days of Future Past. Michael Fassbender will be playing a younger version of the character in the latest installment.

Alongside Jackman, who first starred as the mutant, clawed-hand character in 2000′s X-Men, the film will include Fassbender, James McAvoy and Jennifer Lawrence.

X-Men: Apocalypse is scheduled for release in May 2016.
