Is Bradley Cooper the Next Indiana Jones?

Rumor has it that Disney/Lucasfilm is considering a reboot of the Indiana Jones series, which would include a new actor taking on the role of the title character, similar to what’s been done with the James Bond franchise. Latino Review reports that Bradley Cooper is one of the actors that producers want to replace Harrison Ford.

Ford has played the role of Indiana Jones in four films since 1981 in Raiders of the Lost Ark. The 71-year-old actor is expected to be a part of Star Wars: Episode VII, making it more unlikely for Ford to be able to take on an adventurous role in Indiana Jones 5 anytime soon.

Last year, the actor told the Telegraph he could still handle the role despite his age. “We’ve seen the character develop and grow over a period of time and it’s perfectly appropriate and OK for him to come back again with a great movie around him where he doesn’t necessarily have to kick as much ass,” said Ford.

The Latino Review also reports that there is a deadline for Ford to sign on to reprise his role. “There is a date and if Indiana Jones 5 is not moving forward by then, the studios are 100 percent prepared to recast a younger Dr. Jones and ready up a new trilogy,” the site states. It also adds that Frank Darbont, writer of The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones, will write the script.

Currently, Cooper and Indiana Jones producer Frank Marshall have yet to respond to the casting rumor.
