‘Jurassic World’ May Kickstart Film Series

Jurassic World may have only recently begun filming in Hawaii, but Universal is already making plans to have multiple sequels for the film franchise.

Director Colin Trevorrow spoke with Empire of his discussions with the film studio about the possibility of additional Jurassic Park films.

“We definitely talked about [sequels] a lot. We wanted to create something that would be a little bit less arbitrary and episodic, and something that could potentially arc into a series that would feel like a complete story.” He adds that he would like to direct the sequels, “if they’ll have me.”

Trevorrow implied that the film’s stars, Chris Pratt and Omar Sy, could be featured in the sequels as well.

“They work together and have some pretty cool action scenes together. I wanted to create a relationship there that could be memorable and potentially carry on to future films.”

Jurassic World takes place at Isla Nublar 22 years after the events of 1993’s Jurassic Park. The film will explore the theme of “alpha dominance” and look at the relationship between humans and dinosaurs in a world where the two species must co-exist.

The film also stars Bryce Dallas Howard, Vincent D’Onofrio, Irrfan Khan, Nick Robinson, and Ty Simpkins. It is set to hit the silver screen June 12, 2015.
